The Jean
Whenever I can’t decide what to wear, whenever I’m too lazy to check and see if my iPhone weather has a sun or a cloud, whenever I need to get dressed and out of the house fast, I go for the jeans.
I have most of my jeans folded, so I have to go through them to pick a pair out, but my favorite favorite FAVORITE pair? I can spot them from a mile away. And they cost me less than $30.
The Favorite Boyfriend jean (in Dark Indigo wash) from American Eagle.
I know, I know, AE is for middle schoolers. But seriously, I’ve actually been wearing their jeans since middle school and they’re the best bang for my buck. I’d compare them to the quality of Express jeans. My $120 pair of Seven For All Mankind jeans don’t make me feel as comfy as these do.
They’re boyfriend style, which means they hug your thighs just a little and then hang straight down. They’re not tight enough or flared enough to be flares and they’re not loose enough to be trouser jeans. It’s like you’re wearing a pair of your boyfriend’s jeans! Imagine that.
But anyway, off my AE soapbox. I mention these jeans because I can wear them with anything. They’re my go-to bottom when I need to be fashionable fast.
The dark wash makes them look classier than a pair of frayed, whiskered jeans. They’re not too tight and not too loose. I can throw on a painter T from J. Crew and sandals or a chunky sweater from the thrift store and my favorite boots.
Fashion. Fast. Tip 1: Have basic things, like jeans, that you feel awesome in. Do not hesitate to wear them often. Buy several pairs of the same thing if need be.
